WHEN I FIRST STARTED SELLING ON EBAY BACK IN 1999, I WAS USING THE WEB TV WITH NO WAY TO POST PICTURES. NOT USING PICTURES FORCED ME TO DESCRIBE IN DETAIL WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SELL. I REALIZED THAT NOT ONLY WAS IT IMPORTANT TO ME TO DESCRIBE THE GOOD THINGS , IT WAS JUST AS IMPORTANT TO POINT OUT THE NEGATIVE ASPECT OF THE ITEM. I WAS DESCRIBING EVERY SCRATCH, SCUFF, PAINT MARK OR WHATEVER WAS ON THE ITEM. ALSO I WAS GIVING MEASURMENTS, COLORS, AND HISTORY (IF I KNEW IT.) MOST ITEMS I WOULD RESEARCH ON EBAY AND FOLLOW THEM. OFTEN I WOULD MENTION WHAT THE ITEM RECENTLEY SOLD FOR NEW OR USED. I BEGAN TO REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT ALL THESE THINGS WERE AS MY POSITIVE FEEDBACK BEGAN TO GROW. PEOPLE WERE BUYING STUFF FROM ME WITHOUT EVEN SEEING A PICTURE! I SOLD A SNOOPY AIRPLANE MUSIC BOX FOR 147.00. THAT SHOCKED ME! THEN THE GUY WROTE TO ME AND THANKED ME FOR DESCRIBING IT SO WELL.MY FEEDBACK ROSE TO A SCORE OF 84 AND 100% POSITIVE ALL WITH NO PICTURES. AFTER A COUPLE YEARS I FINALLY GOT A COMPUTER AND A DIGITAL CAMERA. AS I AM WRITING THIS MY FEEDBACK SCORE IS 440 AND STILL 100% POSITIVE. WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IS HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY.
