This is a quick info page regarding the LG refrigerator we just purchased.  It is a very nice model.  Spacious.  However, it just needs some getting used to...it seems as though there are not that many glass shelves available.(4 slide out glass shelves)  That may be because many items are now stored on the doors. (and because of the three plastic bins or drawers beneath the glass shelves,  described below).  With older refrigerators not many items could be stored on the doors, usually just small bottles of sauce, butter, eggs, etc..., with this one at least four gallons of milk can be stored on the doors. (not recommended though)  I had to remove one glass shelf from the interior to make room for large 1 Liter bottles of juice or pop.  It is very spacious, just have to get used to how to use the new space.  Each tempered glass shelf actually slides out, towards you about 5 or 6" inches to reach items in the back easier.  They are also "spill proof", not sure how much liquid they can hold if you actually spill something?

Underneath the four glass shelves, there are two large drawers or plastic bins and one very large full length drawer underneath the other two which take up allot of room, this large drawer can hold a large pizza or two  in a box (leftovers) or a vegetable tray for parties.  The two other drawers or bins above this large one are good for fruits and vegetables and sandwich meat, they come in very handy.  They do take up quite a bit of room.

The freezer is LARGE.  Again one has to get used to the use of space.  You have a large bin on the bottom which holds pizza boxes, frozen turkey, vegetables, ice cream, meat, etc....  Keeping organized is a little difficult as it is a large bin.  There is also a sliding wire basket over the main bin which holds more items and slides out for easy access.  I keep my frozen vegetables, pizza and coffee here.  There is a basket on the left side where the ice maker unloads the ice.  I use this basket for my frozen treats since I don't use ice.  Finally a small tiliting bin on the side of the freezer door holds smaller items, like a box of baking soda and maybe some frozen treats.

Overall on a 1-10 scale I would give this an 8.5. Consumer reports rated it best in class of french door 2006 models.  Very economical(energy star), after a few months of using this I actually did notice a $18 drop in my monthly electric bill, however I replaced a very old model.  Something many may not realize, it uses less energy to have a freezer on the bottom as opposed to in being on top or on its side.  Why?  Cold air sinks, when the freezer is on top, the fridge has to work harder to push the cold air up, same thing when the freezer is on the side.  When the freezer is on the bottom, it has to work less to keep everything cool or cold.  A tip my friend gave me if you're really into saving energy.  If your fridge is slightly empty, freeze some plastic soda bottles with water in them outside overnight in cold climates or in winter.  Bring them inside once they are frozen and place them in your fridge, this keeps the fridge colder naturally, keeps it from running less and saves you money.  Once they thaw, repeat!

This model is also quiet (to a degree) I still hear it running when it turns on, not as loud as older models.  Nice, easy to use digital controls in the fridge, they control freezer and fridge temperatures plus an "ice plus" button which help make ice quicker if needed and anti-bacterial seals on the doors keep cooties from growing.  If any door stays open for more than a minute, an alarm goes off...kind of a nice feature.  There are many temperature sensors and vents at each level (vents should not be blocked by items) to keep the temp just right .. ( i used a thermometer in the freezer and fridge to make sure it was the right temp inside as displayed on the digital controls, YUP, it was!)  I like that!

The exterior is very nice...I have the titanium model.... a little hard to keep fingerprints off, BUT not bad.  I was told to use Pledge or any other furniture wax to clean and help keep off fingerprints, but very easy to clean.  The doors themselves are not flat or square, they have a slight curve (concave)to them.  Kinda like it now, had issues at first.  The door handles are metal, strong and sturdy.  Big reason I liked this model.  I hate cheap plastic handles.

As of Jan. 28th 2007, no problems with this unit!

Any questions, feel free to ask.  Need Mexican Tile?  Check out my auctions.
