     What started Brian Hersch, a San Francisco real estate developer, on the road to become one of the most prolific board and card game inventors in the United States? The story goes that he was driving to a holiday party when he heard on the radio it was the anniversary of  The Battle of the Bulge, and he began free associating words related to that event.  When he reached the festivities he asked other guests if they did the same -- associating words to events-- and found that many of his fellow party goers did indeed link single words to events like The Battle Of The Bulge—words such as allies, 1944, etc.  Thus the game of Outburst was born, the first of the many games in Mr. Hersch’s vast game inventory.
