This is an eight plate set retelling the story of the Snowmaiden, one of Russia's most beloved fairy tales. Snowmaiden was the daughter of Faerie Spring and Mighty Winter. "You shall be safe from death as long as the love for a man does not enter your heart".
This series of hard fired porcelain plates released in 1989 and 1990 was crafted by Kholui Art Studios and distributed by the Bradford Exchange. The plates are 7 1/2" (19cm) and are not for food service. They have up to 16 ceramic color pigments and are highlighted in gold.
Each plate has been assigned an individual Bradex number that appears on the reverse. The plates are packed in custom fitted cardboard boxes, shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity, and, foldouts in both Russian and English telling the Legend of the Snowmaiden along with the manufacturing details of the plates.

These pieces are offered year around and frequently sell at prices well below the original subscription price of $35 each. In April, a complete set sold for $96; an average of $12 each.
If your plate does not have the papers with it, the name can be found by comparing the Bradex number found near the bottom of the plate on the reverse with the information above.
A word of caution:
There are a few other sets of Russian legends and fairy tales on plates. All of them are similar in design, style and size. If you are collecting just one of the sets be sure to compare the Bradex numbers which have a different numerical sequence for each series. The letter in the sequence is most important.
