So you are ready to purchase a "real" TV and finally experence HD televison, now its time to pick one out. LCD is fixable and has a bit more watching life, while Plasma is not fixable and has a bit shorter of a life; but if you have a job and it isnt a dvd movie reviewer or pro-gamer, you shouldnt need to worry about the life; and if you outwatch your TVs life, you need a hobby. That being said, I am addicted to video games and play them tournments, so small details within the games are a really big deal to me.
You might have read some reviews taking about the frame rate and how fast the TV catches up with the actual output. I fully explain the specs of this, but what you need to know is that Plasma is the way to go with video games, especially if you have a Xbox360 or and PS3, both of which output at 720i -1080i and have an FPS rate that is higher than an LCD can really handle. I will use the game "Gears of War" as an example, for those not into the gaming genre, this is an xbox360 game that is graphically is the best game to be made yet. It is a combat game that is very intense and when you are moving, sometimes it requires you to swing view around quickly; when you do this on an average LCD, I played on a Vizio, it becomes blury when the screen moves quickly. I then played on my Panasonic th-42px75u plasma (cant be beat for the price, period) and the frame rate was clear, colors where more vibrant, and edges were smoother.
If your going to be playing video games, or watching hd-dvds/bluerays, you need to get plasma.
