Avoid buying a monitor when buying a television!!

Some buyers may be confused when stepping up to the new level of entertainment, the new standard for television.  LCD and Plasma screens each have their positives and their drawbacks depending on what your needs are.  First we will not get it to which is better LCD or Plasma both Have pluses and minuses.  LCD and Plasmas can offer the same effects when properly displayed.  A monitor is not a television, it is like your computer screen you must hook up a source of video to display picture onto your screen.  Some better brands and more expensive brands have hdtv tuners which make them hdtv ready, all you have to do is hook up your component video cables from your provider to view awesome hdtv.  Some lcds and plasmas are not hdtv ready but have an old fashioned cable tuner, which will display digital when available.  Be careful there is a differnce check your specifications.  The new wave of technology has brought prices down and brought some low cost brands on the market, most low brand lcd tvs are made by SONY, Panasonic, Zanith And Toshiba.  Many no name brands are very well and can save you money.  Once again check your resolution specs and your features, some lcds and plasmas will offer 4:3 with side bars, 16:9 with horizontal bars and zoom rates, some offer up to 4x zoom so you can see the trees in the background of the movies.  There are other features such as panaromic, widescreen and superwide all of these will distort the picture slightly but only noticable when using less than digital.  The old flaw of not being able to watch shows with tickers or leaving your show on pause and the image burning on the screen no longer applies to lcd and plasmas, it takes about a week of any image burning to occur and almost all panels offer memory wash which will white wash the screen and erase any image that may have been left.    Technology has changed and i feel that lcds and plasma screen are the new standards and the old big screen projections will dissappear soon.  Good luck in your buying purchase.
