Every so often on the Doll Board someone will ask for Identification on some of the larger baby dolls from the 1940's or 1950's. Many of these dolls do not have markings so it is hard to identify the maker. Included in this Guide are some pictures with information that was provided in the book that I got the pictures from. The Book is by Patricia Smith and is copy right 1975.
if the doll has a mechanism like this in its stomach it could be "Talking Tot". The head is hard plastic, body is cloth with vinyl arms and legs. The talker is wound with a key. The eyes on this one are supposed to be blue but they sometimes fade out to gray. The head is made by Ideal but may not have any markings. this doll was 22"tall
This doll is listed as "Bundle of Charm". The head is hard plastic with cloth body and vinyl arms and legs. Also has blue sleep eyes that may or may not stay blue. May have open mouth with two teeth showing. This doll also had squeakers in both legs. marks on this doll may be a what looks like 650 only backwards. this doll is 24" tall.
The last doll of this type is 19" and has a toddler type body. The face design is thought to be made by Lipfert to represent the Dionne qunits. The body is also the same as these dolls but is not well finished and there are no marks. due to space limitations I cannot post a picture of this last doll.
