Its a craze thats swept Europe & Its arrived here!

Lagenlook is German for layered look. Its been worn by us Euros for years. The USA has its own lagenlook designers, especially CYNTHIA ASHBY,BODIL,HOMEFROCKS & NOBLU.

At the Spring 2009 collections, I`ve seen lots of US designers jump onto the layering bandwagon, some not very successfully, but the one thing they left out is the size. Of course, slim ladies want to layer too. But this look has volume to it.

Its ultra popular with ladies that have curves. But you can end up with the "spud" (A Giant Potato on legs) or a Wigwam tent look if you get it wrong. Its not rocket science, its just a look. Some sellers waffle on about how you can only wear it if you buy the junk they sell thats made from cheap chinese linen, calling it "authentic" & "Made in Italy" like its a high end label!

A short top/jacket over a longer top constitutes "lagenlook". Too many layers add pounds to your frame.

The bottom layer is a dress, skirt or pants. If you are under 5ft 6, keep the pants slim leg or wear leggings as opposed to wide leg.

The inner layer is a long, usually an asymmetrical hem tunic, again a lighter fabric if you have curves.

The top layer is a short jacket or one of the Euro wide cut cropped length tunics made by designers like Skullz London,Hebbeding,Dhio, Completo Lino or similar.  Bear in mind, those items look fabulous on a long skinny mannequin, you have to imagine your body shape in them. Just dont add a voluminous Kimono or similar length wide jacket or you`ll add too much volume, which equals adding 20lbs to your middle/hip section. Most top layers are around 24 inches in length or less.
