Two years ago I took my two toddlers out to play in the snow. I'd dressed them in snow suits, hats, boots and mittens. They didn't last very long. The reason? Their wrists had become packed with snow while playing in the snow. Their mittens quickly became soggy and their hands were wet and freezing. Also, the mittens kept falling off. This day I also noticed the ingenious pair of mittens my neighbor's 4 year old was wearing. They had a sleeve that attached at the wrist and extended to the elbow, keeping the snow off of her wrists. They were waterproof and warm and they didn't fall off. While my toddlers were uncomfortable this girl was warm and dry. I asked my neighbor where she had found these mittens and she couldn't remember. I searched stores and the internet for 2 years for these mittens and finally stumbled upon the L-Bow Mittens while searching for snow pants. I ordered a pair for each of my children and what a difference they make. They are warm because they're insulated with Thinsulate. They are also completely waterproof. The ingenious sleeve keeps snow away from little wrists and they stay in place. The unique thumb design and palm area rubber material make for a good grip so that they're not pulling the mittens off to grasp at things. Now my daughters can play in the snow to their hearts' content, and I don't have to worry about frostbite.
