The Kwikstep, Ritestep, and Steprite Deluxe Irish dance hard shoes are all made by the same manufacturer under the Steprite name. The Irish hard shoes, sometimes also called heavy shoes or jig shoes, have several different features which will be described here as a method of comparison. Each shoe provides different features that are of interest to Irish dancers and therefore sleecting the correct shoe is often a matter of individual preference.

Steprite Deluxe

The Steprite Deluxe is a basic shoe that is intended for beginners but also works well for all other levels of dancing. The composite material used for the tip provides a loud crack and many often feel that this sound is even better than the fiberglass.

  • Sole Type: Tan Leather
  • Tip Type: Anti-Cracking Composite Material
  • Other Features: Padded Insole, Tapered Heel

Ritestep

The Ritestep is an intermediate shoe for those who prefer fiberglass. It is suggested for beginner to novice level dancers, but can be used by all levels.

  • Sole Type: Super Flexi With Black Suede
  • Tip Type: Fiberglass

Kwikstep

The Kwikstep shoes are the most advanced and provide the most features. This shoe is suggested for more experienced dancers. It has special features to help prevent blistering such as the heel pipe cushioning and a fully cushioned insole. This shoe is often a favorite among many Irish dancers.

  • Sole Type: Super Flexi With Black Suede
  • Tip Type: Fiberglass
  • Other Features: Heel Pipe Cushioning, Cushioned Insole, Gold Finish Eyelets/Buckles
