Uses of Kombucha tea (K-tea)
(You can do these hints with fresh K-tea or K-tea that is older & has turned vinegary-I age some jugs 30 days for these uses-It is then called kombucha vinegar)
- In bath water~Add 1 to 2 cups K-tea to bath water, also Softens skin
- Rinse hair~Use K-tea as the final rinse with problem areas in the hair, Or put in hair let sit 5 minutes then rinse out(after shampooing & rinsing)
- Wash face~First wash & rinse face as normal,Take a cotton ball & gently rub the K-tea on your face let dry. It really makes your skin feel great.Another great tip is do not buy fancy exfoliates use simple baking soda with warm water in a paste & gently wash face with it.
- On smelly or sore feet~Just add 1/2 cup of baking soda & a couple of cups of K-tea to your warm water foot soak.(the baking soda & K-tea will fizz)Also great for Athletes foot & fungus's.
- On rashes or stings~Use either K-tea on a cotton ball or a old culture & apply.
- For sore throats~Simply gargle K-tea strait(no extras)Do not drink anything behind it for at least 5 minutes,
- For antibacterial spray/hand wash~We learned this after a bout of Pink eye in our family that the kids were spreading. Either use a small spray bottle with 1/2 & 1/2 K-tea & pure water to clean hands, Or use strait. Distilled white vinegar can be used as well like 1/3 pure water, 1/3 K-tea & 1/3 Distilled white vinegar.
- Plus we give it to all our animals~Just add a few drops to a few TBS to the water bowl.
We do not throw away any extra or old cultures, They have many uses as well.
(To use old or extra cultures keep in a jar with K-tea to keep them wet and hydrated)
- They work great on pimples & acne, Just either rub wet culture on face or place on problem area on face & let dry.
- For burns~Store some old or extra cultures in the fridge in k-tea for use on burns.Apply to burn,
- Works on cuts to~Use room temp Old or extra cultures put on cut let dry.
- Compost~Old culture are awesome when added to your compost pile.
- Dog chew(rawhide like)~Simply roll old cultures and allow to dry, Dogs love them
- For chapped skin, Simply rub wet culture on chapped skin
- I have never personally eaten a kombucha culture, But many cut them up & cook in stir fry etc.
. When a kombucha culture is to old to do batches good, It will feel very limp, Be brown and look like its falling apart (some desribe it to be like crape paper) But the best way to know is it does not ferment the batch normally or prodices poor/thin babies.
Here is a picture of 2 old cultures(after doing 5 batches each) 1 is my small size, the other is my regular size
As the culture ages it changes. When the entire culture starts to turn dark brown & very limp, it should be discarded.(usually from 3to8 batches/ferment's)
