When choosing a Kombucha or Kefir seller (Or any seller on ebay for that matter)-

Choose the one you believe you will be the happiest with & maybe use some other criteria like:

  1. How much you want to pay
  2. The total cost each seller offers
  3. How many of the cultures you want
  4. Do they say how much S&H discount for additional purchases
  5. Do they offer the extras that you want
  6. Or maybe you do not want or need extras
  7. If you want several kinds of cultures who offers the best deal for you
  8. Do the ingredients they use match the ingredients you want to use.
  9. The terms in the listing should be noted, Do you agree with them?
  10. Feedback & History is also very important, So check out botth feedback recived and given along with the star rating.
  11. Ask the seller a question, do they answer your question or even respond at all?

Always ask any questions before you purchase-

  • There are only a handful of Kombucha & Kefir sellers on eBay that sell cultures full time, Of those most seem to be very good sellers with good information on their products,So this gives you a good selection of sellers. I can think of a few of these sellers I would recommend in a heartbeat if need be. I do not think I am a better Kombucha & Kefir seller than other sellers are.
  • Most of us culture sellers have ME pages &/or guides to help you to know who suits you best. Most also put all the info needed on how the cultures offered where grown right in the listing, I do this so the buyer knows how they are made and if it suits them or not.
  • A few do have misinformation in their eBay listings,Guides or ME pages so do your "homework" ,& ask questions!!!
  • I feel we all can learn something new on the subject of these cultures,I am always prepared to learn something new.
  • Some of the newer sellers or the occasional kombucha & kefir sellers do have limited info on what they are selling & how it was made etc in their listings, So either ask lots of questions before you purchase or be prepared for what you get.(sometimes you might be very pleasantly surprised)
  • All of us Kombucha & Kefir sellers have to pay to mail our items & for the packaging/Handling costs etc to get your items to you, Some sellers charge more than others. I know what my costs are, But I have no idea the cost another seller may have, Maybe there supplies are harder to find so therefore cost them more so there S&H may be higher than mine, This in no way means they are a bad seller. If the costs sound reasonable to you, Thats all that counts.Others maybe new to selling & do not realize that $10 to mail 1 culture is excessive in ebayers eyes, Maybe they just are getting used to how much things cost, Again they are learning.(also understand that we pay more fees for a listing that the S&H is free compared to a listing where the S&H is seperate, Plus we pay a fee on the whole payment when its paid through Paypal)
  • I also do not believe you have to only be selling cultures to sell them well or be very knowledgeable about how to help others grow & use them. I personally like knowing a person is behind the product & not a angry person,No matter how many varieties of items they sell.
  • I love what I do, I love helping buyers, As a Buyer on my other ID's I prefer to find sellers who love what they do no matter what they sell.
  • Not everyone gets along with everybody, We all have different personalities, for this reason I am happy that there are multiple full time Kombucha & Kefir sellers. That way you the buyer can choose the best for your needs with no pressures.
  • I would say most buyers who email me before buying are also emailing several other sellers the same questions, So they can get a feel for who they want to buy from. I think that's Great!!
  • To sell well on eBay you do not need to put other sellers down or say any other seller that does not think like you is wrong.
  • I would want a Honest seller who accommodates their buyers without putting other sellers down.

Here is some info buyers need to be aware of when buying cultures(or anything on ebay for that matter):

  1. Insurance on cultures, the rare PO that will pay out insurance on cultures(as most wouldnt since they are a perishable), they will only pay you your winning bid amount(Items may not be insured for more than their value.in the case of ebay the bid amount) So unless you are spending a lot of money on extras insurance is a waste of your money. It is also the sellers responsibility as per ebay & Paypal to get you the buyer your item as described, So when insurance is nessasary(for breakables or costly items) its to cover the seller & not the buyer. So the seller is responsible for the item even after they mail it.(again as per eBay & Paypal)
  2. All my cultures are sent USPS Priority mail,(a little info on Priority) Make sure you understand Priority is generally a 2 or 3 day service but can take longer and it is not a guaranteed service of US Post Office. So if you need your culture at a guaranteed time maybe ask the seller the best options. Express mail is the only USPS guaranteed service(to most areas). Priority mail also can not have tracking added, It can only have Delivery confirmation added to it, Again Express mail is the only USPS service that offers true Tracking. The USPS has started scanning Priority mail more on a trail basis, But not all packages are getting these scans. Priority mail does however keep moving and not sit still, So a package mailed on a Sat has a chance to be delivered on a Monday.
