Hi everyone, just a little knowledge for everyone. Antique's are dusty relic's from the past. there to be dusty and used. I am here to give some advise on buying the real thing.... here goes..... cast iron toys, wow there are alot of people selling new cast iron toys, that they make look old by putting outside in the wheather in the rain snow, even burying them so they get rusty... trick of the trade .....item should have a stright head screw not a phillips head or a rivit, there actruly should'nt be any rust. another toy item is the tootsie toy cars, white wheel cars should have white tires. but there shouldn't be a mold line around the center of the tire it should be smooth... people are putting new white rubber washers for tires. Antiques are blemished discoloration is normal, i have purchased item sold as antique .....and it was made in 2005... lol. im not perfect ... there are alot of slush mold cars being made now that say they are antique.... well remember the kids toy that came out called molded metal cars and trucks....... lol there making cars and selling them as antiques, all antique's that are truely antiques will have flawes they must have them...... think about it ...there 200 to 300 years old, and have been thrown around and left outside. and just plain played with till the owner got tired of it. some paint should be chipped.
