OAKLEY GASCAN SUNGLASSES

Currently, the Oakley GASCAN sunglasses are one of the most popular sunglasses, and Oakley recently started offering special edition GASCAN sunglasses to make these sunglasses even more desirable to everyone, even Oakley collectors. There is a style to suit just about everyone’s preference. Listed below are some of the various styles that have been released. Many of them were instant collector’s items, and are nearly impossible to find…if you manage to find them, they are often selling for a premium price.

David Flores Gascan…

Limited Edition (actual number released…unknown)…no longer available…Extremely hard to find

There are two versions…version 1 has a brown print, and version 2 has a blue print. If you can actually find these, they are selling for insane prices.

These were released to the Oakley “O” Stores, and then quickly removed from the shelves due to a conflict of interest between Oakley and David Flores’ past…Oakley did not want to be associated with his image. I was told by our Oakley rep that it had something to do with him being arrested in the past. Only a handful of people were able to purchase these at full retail price from the “O” Stores before they were removed from the stores by Oakley and supposedly destroyed by the company. These sunglasses were never available to regular Oakley dealers, so the lucky few that bought them have one of the rarest collector Oakley sunglasses…current market value $450+.

GRAB BAG Gascan…

Limited Edition…less than 1000 of each icon style…constantly changing icon

These have come with various cool icons, such as “$1 Bills”, “Skulls”, “Hawaiian Floral”, “Polka Dots”, “Ocean Waves”, “Argyle”, “Paint Splatter”, “City Skyline”, and a few others, with more icon styles to come. These are only available to select Oakley dealers…and yes, Mystical Body is one of them!!! Look us up on Ebay for currently available styles.

The idea is simple: a stylized icon in place of the standard “O”. The mission? Putting a miscellaneous spin on the landmark Oakley logo and spearheading the next generation of exclusive collectors’ eyewear. We’re calling it Grab Bag – with seemingly limitless editions of the iconic graphic – and introducing the collection from our Square O line. The first installation of Grab Bag features three sunglass styles with vivid custom icon treatments: Gascan, Eyepatch and Hijinx. Each dip into the Oakley Grab Bag produces a new icon design and color treatment; each style will be available in limited, exclusive quantities for the most-savvy collectors.

This program is a Grab Bag in the true spirit of the term. We're
making a small quiver of select Square O styles featuring an everchanging
icon graphic in extremely limited numbers. We'll build out
a handful of color options across 3 styles (Gas Can, Eyepatch and
Hijinx), all of which will be identical to their standard/neutral
counterparts only they'll be fitted with limited-edition, custom icon
treatments. Each limited icon graphic will run for approximately one
month only to be replaced with a new and completely different
design and color treatment the next month, and so on, and so on...
This project is truly a Grab Bag because you just never know what
you're going to get! All executions look uniquely killer and will allow
select accounts to offer combinations that won't be found in your
average mall store. Grab Bag styles will exclusively be made
available to a limited number of savvy accounts that cater to the
influential and independent shopper, specifically those accounts
which are capable of understanding the concept and celebrating
each execution.

London Police Artist Series Gascan…

These have a polished black frame with clear arms that are back-painted with the “Lads”. The visual depth achieved from this is amazing.

Picture a renegade band of guerilla artists putting up an illegal mural in London and getting chased by armed pimps with no appreciation for art. That was just one of the exploits of The London Police, a group that started when big English geezers headed to Amsterdam and decided the drug capital of the world could use a bit of freshening up. They ventured all over the planet and turned streets into galleries with their “LADS,” black and white characters that became global icons.
We set them loose on our GASCAN frame to create a special edition that tags your skull with street art. Only 5000 will be available in this limited release. These rustic-looking sunglasses are painted to resemble two unique fighter planes from World War II. These came with a commemorative pin, unlike any of the other Gascans.

You peel your P-40 for a boom-and-zoom when two bogeys bear down, forcing you into a high G turn that feels like the blood in your brain is coming down over your eyes. Just another day at the office for the Flying Tigers. Their shark-faced fighters are an icon of World War II, and their volunteer flying group became synonymous with independence, daring prowess and just plain guts.
We’re honoring the Flying Tigers with this special edition of Oakley GASCAN eyewear. The art on the stems looks like we tore it off a fuselage that’s seen some action, and two unique versions are available. Both are matched with lenses that excel in bright sunlight. These have a polished black frame with spiders and spider webs along the side. Very cool looking.

Today, Troy Lee Designs is recognized worldwide as the premier custom paint shop for racing helmets. We put Troy with a few of our visionaries and let them fire up brain cells like spark plugs to create this special edition of GASCAN.
Only 5000 frames will carry the Troy Lee print, a salute to his Phobia design of spiders with red TLD logos. If you actually find these, they are selling for insane prices. These were released exclusively at the Berlin “O” Store Grand Opening. These are one of the most rare Gascan sunglasses. These were never available to regular Oakley dealers, so the lucky few that actually purchased them at the Berlin “O” Store have one of the most collectible Gascan sunglasses ever. Current market value…$450+

Chip Foose Signature Series Gascan…

Limited Edition only 5000 worldwide…no longer available…difficult to find

These are painted to look like brushed aluminum on the outside with an orange icon, and olive green on the inside. The brushed aluminum effect is stunning.

The youngest person ever to be inducted into the Hot Rod Hall of Fame is a visionary who sculpts raw metal into works of art. His design legacy ranges from customs to street rods, and lately it seems his award mantel has as much metal as his garage. We’re honoring Chip Foose, one of the world’s premier automobile designers, with this special edition of Oakley GASCAN eyewear.
Chip’s masterpiece Hot Rod Lincoln was dubbed the “P-32 Street Fighter,” so we screen printed “P-32” along with “FOOSE” inside the stem. The aluminum of the P-32 inspired the frame finish, and the icons combine the military olive color of the hot rod’s interior with the orange of the Foose Design logo. We fired up our laser to etch “Chip” near the bottom of the lens, a subtle salute to the man who fuels the engine of innovation.
