People have wondered about this. I emailed Ebay and this is the info I got (I printed it out, too):
The formula is n/1-x
Now don't get math phobic or have unpleasant flashbacks to math class. This IS easier than it looks! Honest.....
n= number of negatives you have received
x- percentage desired (let's use 0.9975 (99.75%) as our Desired number because that will round up to 100%, according to Ebay guidelines)
1 remains the number one. It is as it appears to be.
If a person has received 9 negative feedbacks and wants to have AT LEAST 99.75% positive feedback percentage
the formula would equate to 9/1 - 0.9975 = 9/0.0025 - 3600. Assuming there are no more negatives, that person would need 3600 positives to reach 99.8%, rounding up to 100%.
