Disney's adaptation in 1938 of the Grimm's Brothers fairy tale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, led to one of the most commercially recognizable princess-centered movies in history. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney's first animated feature length film. It is the in the top ten highest grossing films of all time. The character of Snow White was voiced by Adriana Caselotti.
The names of the seven dwarfs (Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Bashful, and Doc) were chosen just for the film out of a selection of fifty (some of which were Dirty, Gaspy, Hoppy, Jaunty, Nifty, and Shifty). In other versions of the tale from different countries, the seven dwarfs were instead replaced with 40 dragons.
Trivia : Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first movie to ever have a soundtrack released to go along with it.
