The Powerpuff Girls is an animated television series about 3 girls with superpowers; Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. 

Blossom is the commander of the group, while Bubbles is the "joy and laughter" of the group, and Buttercup is the best fighter.  They live in Townsville, USA and were created by Professor Utonium as an experiment when he was trying to find out what would happen if he used, "sugar and spice and everything nice." 

Their super-abilities include super strength, super speed, energy blasts, and the ability to fly.  The show first aired on Cartoon Network in 1998 and was originally created for a college assignment at the California Institute of the Arts in 1992.
