Looney Tunes was a Warner Brothers animated series that first appeared in movie theaters until it was syndicated to television.  It was the WB's first animated series and second longest animated series.  The show was produced in black and white until 1943.  Looney Tunes' first star was Bosko, who debuted in 1930.  Porky Pig came in 1935 who was closely followed by Daffy Duck in 1937 and Bugs Bunny, who first appeared in 1940.  Bugs first appeared in the Merrie Melodies cast and then was moved to Looney Tunes.   Looney Tunes was first aired in movie theaters and catered more to the adult moviegoers.  However, the move to syndicated television in the 1950's changed the target audience to children.

Originally, Looney Tunes aired from 1930 to 1969.  Then, the series was revived in 1987 when new cartoon shorts were produced.
Nickelodeon aired Looney Tunes from 1989 to 1999 and it was then moved to the Cartoon Network.

A live-action/animated movie was released in theaters in 1996 titled "Space Jam" which featured the Looney Tunes line-up along with the basketball star, Michael Jordan.  This feature film introduced a new Looney Tunes character named Lola Bunny, the love interest of Bugs.  Another feature film was released in 2003 titled "Looney Tunes: Back in Action."

Another spin-off of the Looney Tunes characters was aired from 1990 until 1993 in which the original characters (Bugs, Daffy, Porky, etc) played teachers to the younger cartoon characters who attended Acme Acres.  There was also a feature film derived from the TV show that was released direct-to-video in 1991 entitled "Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation."

Trivia : Bugs and some of the gang guest starred in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" which was released by the Walt Disney Company in 1988.  Also, characters from Universal, Republic, and Turner Entertainment animation companies appeared, allowing Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse as well as Daffy Duck and Donald Duck their first chance to meet on screen in nearly fifty years.
