He-Man was first seen in 1981, released by Mattel as an action figure.  He-Man is the "most powerful man in the universe."  His greatest adversary is Skeletor.  Skeletor was featured as the main villain in Masters of the Universe, a He-Man film that was released in 1987.  The last He-Man figure was released in 1992 and was called Thunder Punch He-Man. 

The action figure was included with mini-comic books depicting the story of the character and was also featured in the DC comic, "Masters of the Universe," in 1982 as one of his earliest appearances.  He-Man was the star of a cartoon series that aired from 1983-1985 and followed the story of He-Man as it was shown in the comics.
