Dora The Explorer is an adventure show about a young girl named Dora.  She goes on these adventures with her best friend, Boots, a talking monkey.  A tricky fox named Swiper usually tries to complicate her adventures by trying to "swipe" whatever interesting things that Dora and Boots have found.  They are also joined by other characters to help solve riddles or to learn new words in Spanish; Benny the bull, the Fiesta Trio (a bug band), Tico the squirrel, and Señor Tucán.  Dora lives with her Mama and Papi.   

Trivia: The show is designed to be interactive, having the children play along with Dora and help her through her adventures.  Dora first aired its pilot episode in 1999 and the regular series began in 2000.
