How to look for Kippah on ebay
If you are looking for a Kippah on ebay, you obviously know exactly what you are looking for. Ironically, when you type in the word Kippah in the search field and press enter, you are missing out on hundreds of items! Many of my customers are asking for "Y-a-m-a-k-a:" - and beleive me, they are not looking for Japanese motorcycle :-).
Yamaka, yarmulke, Kippah(or kippa) - every name ever used to designate Jewish Scull Cap goes back in history. You can learn a lot about it on my website, if you click on "Is it Yamaka or Yarmulke" menu item.
Origins of Yarmulke- the word
Yiddish word Yarmulke(Yamaka) most likely comes from the Aramaic, yira malka, which means "awe of the King."
Kippah, however also has very special meaning. The word Kippah in Hebrew actually means “dome”. Kippah (or kippot for plural) has become much more widely used to designate the skullcap worn by Jewish men.
When searching for Kippah make sure that you also type in all possible names for this wonderful designation of Jewish Faith, search for Yarmulke, Yamaka, Kippa, Kippot and such.
If you are looking for specific type of Kippah, make sure that you use that in the search as well.
For example, searching for Kabbalah Kippa is more likely to yield the specific type of kippot. Same goes to looking for Buchari Kippa.
Here is the list of search words I found to have been used in the search for Kippah:
Kippah, kippa, kippot, yarmulke, yamaka, Jewish Scull cap, buchari kippa hat, kabbalah kippah, Jewish hat, Judaism kipa, kipa. If you know about other terms, please feel free to drop a line to me - I'll be happy to include them as well.
Good luck and please have fun searching!
