The new Kindle from Amazon is a complete waste of money, but if you have to have one then at least wait for the 2.0 version.  After you read my guide please vote if it was at all helpful, Thanks!

Yes the screen could be more readable and it is awkward to handle because the previous and next page buttons are way off in size.  I really like the ability to preview almost any book by reading the first three chapters!  Web access is clumsy at best because most web sites expect sa much wider screen but it does work.  ( I am luckier than many I have read about. The problem is that the books are incomplete.  I started the sample of my second book and I noticed the footnotes, marked with an asterisk in the text were missing,  You're supposed to be able to select them as hyperlinks, but they wern't connected to anything!

I contacted Amazon's customer care and they responded with this, "Kindle Editions are electronic versions based up9n the original publication issued by the publishers.  Occasionally, conversation of that content for reading on Kindle may require modification of content, layout or format, including the omission of tables images and in this case footnotes".

Well how about that!!  I don't want to read "Kindle Editions" I want the entire book just as it was written!  I might be able to tolerate this situation if the abridged books were marked down in the store, but they aren't.  I am angered by Amazon's claim that they have 90,000+ books available, which simply is nt true.  I tried to find 5 books, which were available on Amazon and were supposed to be on Kindle.....Nope....not a single one!  A complete disappointment!

In its current form it is a novelty product where people pay a premium to have "instant content".  It appears to be more of a gimmick since the content is unavailable.  $400 will buy a lot of paperbacks,  My favorite place to go for books is the used book trader,  They have many bestsellers within a couple of weeks of publication.

If they improve the ergonomics, the availability of reading materials, problems with slow load, problematic e-ink and THE COST, it might be worth it.  As for me, if it were not a gift from handsome hubby, it would already be sold on ebay.
