Over the years, I have accumulated lots of scrap glass consist of
rejects from various fusing and lampwork projects. I use these to make
dichroic barrettes. It is a time consuming process but you get to
create a unique piece of wearable art.

Step By Step
1. Select similar or complimentary colors of scrap glass. Make sure the glass is clean of bead release or kiln wash. I have a large container where I keep the scrap. Break the pieces into smaller sizes using a glass mosaic breaker.
2. Arrange these pieces into a pleasing mosaic on a prepared kiln shelf. Its ok to overlap or use smaller pieces to bridge the glass. Allow slight shrinkage of glass but don't worry if the edges are not even.
3. Use your kiln and fuse to 1500 -1550 F
4. If you have gaps, add more small pieces to bridge the gaps and repeat step 3.
5. Use grinder to shape and smooth the edges.
6. Fire polish in the kiln to 1450 F.
7. Glue a finding for a flat barrette. I use E6000.
8. If you want the barrette curved, you need to slump the piece on a barrette shaper (fire kiln to 1425 F) and then glue it to a curved finding. You should use the best quality barrette findings for your master piece.
