KickItBack and BigCrumbs are ways eBay's seller fees are used to promote the eBay site by helping attact new buyers, which in turn adds more buyers and purchases.  Most of the recent seller fee increases (which sellers seem to HATE) are given to such off-eBay sites.  KickItBack and BigCrumbs promote eBay listings by using a portion of the revenue they receive from eBay.  This is great if the intended goal is being met.  As a regular eBay BUYER, you can also take advantage of such promotions and get part of these seller fees on every purchase.  As a regular SELLER you can get some cash back by refering buyers.  It is all done through the use of cookies, which lets eBay know that you entered the eBay site through KickItBack or BigCrumbs.  Both of these Cash-Back sites pay directly into your PayPal account, both are FREE.  If you make lots of purchases or good at referring friends, it makes sense to take advantage of one or both sites.  If you do not make a lot of purchases or have a lot of referals, it probably isn't worth the few minutes to sign up and remember to launch eBay from the promotional site.  As a seller, I would rather have eBay just lower my seller fees, as I feel these promotional sites tend to be making most of the profit.  I'm not a business marketing major, so I really don't understand what eBay is doing (not like I have any choice in the matter).  What I do know, is that as long as we have this system, buyers and sellers do have the opportunity to get some money back on every purchase they make (and even a little from every purchase their referals make).  Do I like this system? NO.  Do I use this system? YES.  I use BigCrumbs for smaller puchases (less than $20) because they calculate cash back as a percent of the seller fees.  I use KickItBack for larger purchases because they calculate cash back as a percent of the final bid or Buy It Now price.
