Shimmer Accessory Guide
Because of the picture limit, I am making a sequel to the Shimmers guide. Here you will find close-ups of the accessories.
THE CLOTHING
Here are a few of the skirts and capes that come with the Shimmers. For detailed descriptions of each one, please check out the "Guide to Identification."
Deer:

On the left is Deerlene's skirt and the right is Meadow's gold and white lace skirt.
Mermaids:

Marina's skirt (Seaquin variant skirt) on the left, and Seaquin official skirt on the right.
Centaurs:

Clover's skirt on the left and Pepper's skirt on the right.
Butterflies:

Skylite's cape with the dotted ribbon at left and Wind Belle's lace-cuffed sheer capelet on the right. Wind Belle's cape belongs around the back of her, but I've put it to the front so you can see how it's made.
Birds:

Plume's green and blue sheer cape, and Sunstreak's pinkish-orange dotted wrap.
THE COMBS
All of the combs are extremely rare. You can see why-- with all the toy combs produced in the 1980's, it's easy to confuse them with My Little Pony combs, Strawberry Shortcake combs, or the beautiful Lady Lovely Locks comb series. However, once you get to know the characteristics, you will be able to recognize any Shimmers combs by just their shape, even in a big lot. All of them have teeth in the middle with a piece of the comb handle wrapping it on either side, which is a very recongnizable feature. They are also very thick plastic with very fine detail work.
All the combs are around the same size, about an inch and a half long and wide. The different creatures have correspondingly themed combs. Interestingly, the combs' plastic DOES NOT MATCH the colors of the Shimmers exactly. It's simply in the same color-family. It doesn't necessarily mean that the comb has faded-- in fact I have found little color variation at all between the same comb produced for different dolls.

Bird combs (Sunstreak and Plume) - A feather and berries theme.

Butterfly combs (Skylite and Wind Belle) - Butterfly theme.

Centaur combs (Pepper and Clover) - The most unique set, still they have the surrounded teeth feature. This is a flower and wave theme.

Deer combs (Meadow and Deerlene) - My personal favorite design, wildflower with leaves.

Mermaid Combs (Seaquin and Marina) - Shell theme. It's difficult to tell which one you have until you have two different ones for comparison. Marina's is a less vivid pink, more mauve-y. Still by no means a match to their actual paint colors.
UNRELEASED ITEMS
If you find yourself in posession of a seahorse Shimmer, or a zebra striped centaur, or an orange deer, a green mermaid, or the one male shimmer (he's blue and has blond hair)--
YOU HAVE ONE OF THE NEVER PRODUCED PROTOTYPE SHIMMERS!!!!!
Either hang onto it for dear life, or sell it and make a fortune. There were several unproduced prototypes and I'm sure they're bouncing around out there somewhere. If you have one, I'd love a picture of it! Also unproduced were a playset with a waterfall, a mom and dad set of Shimmers, and a baby butterfly.
Thanks for reading my guide!!! Best of luck and happy hunting!
