I already had the Neptune HE when I bought the Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washing machine (in March of 2006) as a second machine. I have not been happy with it. It is a high efficiency machine and uses very little water, like the Neptune, but the Oasis presented several problems for me.
1) Spin - Even at it's lowest setting the clothes were spun so hard that it they ended wadded up. I had to shake each article before placing it in the dryer and even then the wrinkling that resulted was severe. It took much more work in unloading the machine and in the increased amount of ironing that was required.. I finally quit washing clothing in the Oasis.
2) Spin - Second issue - When washing sheets, more often than not, the fitted sheet would get other items entangled in to and cause the load to go off-balance, stopping the machine until the articles were redistributed and the machine was restarted. Then I quit washing fitted sheets in the Oasis.
3) Cleaning - Maybe because of the very low water level, or maybe for some other reason, the clothes were not getting clean. Dirt or spills that would easily come out in the Neptune, remained when clothes were washed in the Oasis. Because of the other problems, I had finally gotten to the point of only washing washcloths and towels in the Oasis. The washcloths that I used for makeup removal were not getting clean in the Oasis. I could take them out of the Oasis and re-wash them in the Neptune and they were fine. So I quit washing washcloths in the Oasis. That left only towels.
That's when I finally realized that it was rediculous to have a whole washing machine dedicated to washing towels only. My husband bought me an inexpensive Maytag Performa and I have been happy with the results ever since.
My Oasis ($1200 including extended warrenty) is now in my garage gathering dust.
