We want to suggest a great trick we use as bikers who like to ride all year long.
Of course the right riding gloves are important for cold weather riding. You want to look for something lined - our warmest gloves are leather with 3M Thinsulate lining. They do a good job, but when the temp falls below 45 (or 55 depending on your tolerance) they need a little more.
THE TRICK TO WARMER HANDS IS ...
Try slipping on a pair of latex gloves (you know, plastic surgical gloves) under your regular riding gloves. You can buy a box of those gloves at most drug stores or automotive supply places. They are cheap and do a surprisingly nice job of keeping your hands warm. They do make your hands sweat, but the warmth is worth it. I know guys who always keep a couple extra pair in their bags and they are chick magnets at the beginning of any cold weather runs.
