Does your Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM not stay cinched? Does it sag and flop around? Maybe it doesn't stay symmetric. Here are some steps to take:

Tips while wearing the bag:

1. To keep your neverfull bag symmetrically cinched, use a lobster clasp on each side of the bag on the D-rings.

You can buy lobster clasps at your local craft store or on ebay, here: ebay search: lobster clasp
An alternative is to use a keychain or bag charm with a lobster clasp.

2. Place a base shaper to line the bottom of the neverfull. (base shaper link) This keeps the bag symmetric-looking and non-saggy, while protecting your bag. If you like the saggy bottom but would like more symmetry, you may need to organize the inside of your bag in a symmetric way, paying attention to keeping the weight distribution equal throughout the bag.

Protection/maintenance tips:

1. Protect the vachetta leather (the handles and trim) using a leather protectant. Examples are Apple Leather protector, Meltonian Leather protector, and Coach leather protector. Spray on or apply with a paper towel, and wait until dry.

It is normal for the leather trim to become darker at the edges. Eventually, the vachetta will darken and the colors will blend. If this happens too quickly (in the first week or so of ownership), it is considered a defect by LV and may qualify for a replacement bag.

Store the bag in its dustbag in a cool, dry place to keep the vachetta leather from oxidizing and turning dark too quickly.

2. Protect the canvas by storing the bag uncinched. Periodically wipe down the canvas with a damp paper towel

3. Protect the inside of the bag: Keep pens, makeup, etc in pouches inside the neverfull bag, instead of directly in contact with the bag. Same for baby items and food. The inside lining is easy to get dirty, because it is made of unprotected cloth. Having a base shaper is a good protection for the bottom of the bag.

4. Protected the hardware: Use a jewelry cleaner to periodically clean the metal hardware on the bag.

5. Difficult stains (note: the protection/maintenance section can be applied to most bags, but do not apply the difficult stains advice to your lambskin or goatskin leather bags. I have used these methods on my own bags, but do not guarantee results for yours.) Always try on a small area first. Use the following steps:

  • Stains on leather:
    • First try using a leather cleaner. Spray on and lightly buff. Examples are foot locker shoe shampoo, or Meltonian leather cleaner.
    • If this doesn't work, try using a non-alcohol-containing baby wipe
    • Remove difficult spots, streaks, and stains with Mr. Clean Magic eraser. Just wet and lightly scrub. Always follow cleaning with leather conditioner.
  • Stains on Canvas:
    • LV Canvas is very hardy, and some common stains can be removed with a damp cloth or baby wipe (again, non-alcoholic)
    • Small white streaks or marks can also be wiped off. These may be paint the canvas picks up from bumping into walls.
    • Do not rub the canvas, as the protective vinyl covering will wear thin (the canvas wears thin on its own through use, but please don't accelerate this at a spot with a stain). For pen marks and ink marks, try to gently rub away with a white eraser. If it doesn't show improvement right away, it is better hidden (by facing the stain toward your body) than scrubbed.
  • Stains on the inside of bag:
    • Turn upside down to let any small pieces of dirt, etc, fall. You may also use a vacuum to clean the inside.
    • Spot-clean with a damp cloth. Never submerge in water.
    • Use warm water, a sponge, and woolite. Gently blot with a sponge.
    • If the stain caused some smell, this can be removed by airing out the bag, then storing for a few hours with a container of baking soda, then febreezing. If these don't work, it can be stored with dryer sheets for a few hours.
