I have found Scotch Guarding my Vera Bradley right from the time i bring them home has kept  them looking excellent for many years. I purchase  the Scotch Guard in a spray can ( almost any local grogery store carries it.) Give it a good spraying inside and out, handles ( really get those handles you'll be amazed how new they stay looking), bottom,  the hole bag. I like to hang mine on a hanger when spraying.
Spray outside or in the garage,   in a open area . Let dry completely.
The Scotch Guard actually brightens the fabric making the colors look more vivid. So this works great on older pieces that need a little color brought back in them.  And go ahead and Scotch Guard all your Vera Bradley pieces eyeglass holders , wallets , coin purses. luggage, and dont forget those Vera Bradley umbrellas the scotch guard will keep them  from water spots and the rain will really slide right off. Then if you fold your umbrella up wet you wont have to worry about it mildewing or spoting the fabric. Since umbrellas do get wet often i would scotch guard it more often then your other pieces insuring it stays in great looking shape for a long time.  This will protect them from stains and spills permanetly staining the fabric. Scotch Guarding is good for 1 year, unless you have to wash your piece. Then reapply after every washing.
We all know Vera Bradley is absolutely made with beautiful fabrics so keep them looking  new for years.
