Katherine Hall Page has created an award-winning series of murder mysteries with a light touch. The heroine, Faith Sibley Fairchild, is a New York City preacher's daughter who does what she swore she would never, ever do--marry a minister. She is also a caterer and just slightly food obsessed (but in a good way!) She moves to the town of Aleford, Massachutsettes and has a couple of children. Eventually, she begins catering again and along the way she becomes an amateur sleuth.
I enjoy the juxtaposition of the sophisticated Faith with the village life she currently leads. I love the descriptions of the beautiful clothes that Faith loves and the food that she is constantly thinking of, planning, and feeding to others. Her sidekick, Pix Miller, is a character that I treasure. And I also like the gentle sense of humor that underlies so much of the interactions between the characters. These books don't contain explicit sex, so if that is a necessary component of your mystery reading these won't be enjoyable for you. Each book contains some of Faith's recipes as an added bonus!
My goal with this guide is to provide a quick into to the series, and then provide you with the titles in order:
- The Body in the Belfry
- The Body in the Kelp
