KOI & GOLDFISH AERATION
and or
AIR PUMPS FOR WINTER use!
Winter is around the corner and your fish need to be healthy and ready for it. What have you done so far? The easiest way to remember when it's time to close down your pond is to do it on "Columbus Day" weekend as cold weather will be arriving shortely after it.
Your pond should be cleaned of all waste. Your Koi or Gold Fish should be checked for Parasites and Fungus. Your fittration system needs to be removed, cleaned, dried and put away for next season.
Above starting from the left is the Medo Air Pumps. Center-Alita Air Pump on right Hakko
For small ponds the Laguna air pump is good for up to 300 gallons, center is weighted hose, air manifold
Aerators and or Air pumps are needed. Aerators provide oxygen and remove gases. (Now, you are thinking.... hmm I've had a pond for 3 years and my fish have lived without air plus it freezes all the time And, our reply is: "You are very lucky" as you are playing with Mother Nature.
Aerators are based on how many CFM's it puts out and how many air stones you should have. You must take into consideration the amount of fish and water you have. Now consider all the dead corners, folds and dead plants that have fallen in there.
REMEMBER THIS!
Everything that rots becomes toxic
Everything that rots-drops
Koi & Gold Fish lay dormat all winter at the bottom of the pond.
