The right stuff of Danish Modern:
When it come to redecorating your home and the norm will not do. Try something out of the norm, like a Danish Modern Flare or Mid Century Modern. There is a true difference between the two, one key difference is danish is much more calm and neutral with sleek teaks, cream colors. You can add some color once you get the basic look. Stick with solid off white or muted cream walls then you can add some jute woven wall hangings, with any type of wood wall sculptures really adds a stunning touch, but keep it simple not to over do it. I have added teak bowls and statues and some pottery with just a touch of color. If you are drawn to studio pottery by all means add that. Ikea has some wonderfully cheap lack shelving in great wood colors. They are straight and clean which makes them perfect for your danish look. I purchased two different types of lack shelving dark and light wood and have placed them on my wall using every other wood type to give it a wonderful look and not so plain jane. If you like plants add a few floor plants in large Gainey planters. Don't go over board with the plants, remember we are working to get that simple but stately Danish Modern look. If you like color try some burnt orange, olive green, browns, golden yellows and even burnt red. You can find all sorts of pillows and just about anything you want on ebay. Oh but most of all if you can swing it wood or wood looking floors are really easy to install. Then add a Rya rug and your house will be what everyone is talking about.
