Juicy Couture- A Guide to Juicy Couture & Fashion

Juicy Couture has rapidly become one of the trendiest contemporary fashion lines in the world.   While their materials often seem casual and even kitschy (think terry, velour, rhinestones, and fleece), their clothing, bags, and accessories have all made a very fashionable splash.   Track suits, along with hoodies, tees, and tanks, are their most popular fashion items; meanwhile, their handbags have eclipsed even their apparel in popularity.

The roots of Juicy Couture can be found in California in 1994, when Gela Nash and Pamela Skaist-Levy first offered stylish maternity jeans under the brand name Travis Jeans, Inc.  In 1999,  Gela Nash married John Taylor, bass player of Duran Duran, and that added an unquestionable glam and rock n' roll influence to Juicy Couture.  Though Juicy Couture is now owned by Liz Claiborne, Nash-Taylor and Skaist-Levy are still the design heads, and Juicy maintains its fabulous rock, surf, princess appeal.

Juicy Couture bags are among the most often counterfeited items in all of fashion.  Their popular Daydreamer collection offers a variety of terry, velour, and leather bags, all featuring some combination of the signature Juicy crest, as well as sayings such as "J'aime Juicy," "State of Mind," "Her Majesty," and "Surf School."  Authentic Juicy bags will have a lining with Juicy crowns and the words "Juicy" and "Love" in an elaborate Medieval/Gothic font, as well as elaborate details like tiny heart-shaped clasps, dangling chains, and "J" zipper pulls.

Other Juicy accessories include very popular charm bracelets (again many with crown motifs), shoes, and bathing suits.  Movado will be coming out with a line of Juicy watches in the near future.  For those who just can't get enough Juicy, there's even a designer cell phone--the Juicy Sidekick II Smartphone from T-Mobile!
