If you're considering purchasing a steam cleaner, I highly recommend a Jiffy Steamer. Several models are available, although the lower priced models are mainly just for getting wrinkles out of garments. If you're looking for a steamer to sanitize your home, get the J2000B or J4000.

I purchased a J2000B on ebay for a steal, and I am very happy with it. It works great at eliminating wrinkles from fabrics, and unlike irons, you can even steam-press curtains without taking them down. It also serves as a sanitizing tool for bathrooms, kitchens, etc. Just make sure that if you are purchasing it for this purpose, you buy the special nozzle head; the standard head that comes with the steamer can only be used vertically and therefore is not very easy to use for household cleaning. I use my Jiffy to steam my dishes and especially my glasses and stemware; it leaves the glass spot-free, unlike dishwashers. Jiffy also loosens dirt, grime, and mold on any surface, all while sanitizing; leaving it easy to wipe right off.

The best reason for getting a Jiffy is it eliminates the need for almost any cleaning chemicals. Chemicals like bleach and ammonia can cause cancer, not to mention being dangerous to have around children and pets. The steam gets so hot it kills bacteria and germs without harsh chemicals.

The Jiffy is simple to put together, and easy to use. Unlike the small hand-held steamers you buy at Walmart, the Jiffy provides 1+ hour of steam per use, verses the Scunci and other store brands that only give you about 10 minutes of actual cleaning time. It also stores quite nicely and doesn't take up much space. All-around, this is one of the better steamers on the market. If you can find one on ebay, it's well worth it. Otherwise, they retail for around $189 when purchased directly from the company.
