Get Creative with Holey Shoe Charms

There are many ways to incorporate shoe charms into your crafts or scrapbooks. They are an easy and colorful way of personalizing and adorning many of your items. There are many brands of shoe charms, including Jibbitz and Shoe Doodles. I sell and prefer the Shoe Doodles because of their oval backing which makes them much more adaptable to other uses. But any type of shoe charm can be used in many ways besides in your shoes. The only thing limiting you is your imagination!

You can decorate your clothes and accessories with shoe charms. Wherever you can punch a hole or cut a small slit you can insert a charm. I have put them in the brim of a hat, on my purse strap and more. They are terrific for personalizing your children's items too. Attach their favorite characters, like Spiderman or Snoopy, onto their backpack for example. This is a photo of one of my summer hats with a charm in the brim.

For pet lovers, shoe charms are also great for accenting your cat or dog's items. Put them in your dog's harness, carry bag or along the leash. Place them wherever your creativity takes you! Shoe Doodles has a line of Dog Charms with 28 different breeds and more on the way. There are also paw prints, bones, crystal paw prints and more, all to help you express your love for your pet. To celebrate my dog I have Chihuahua Shoe Doodles everywhere! Below you can see a crystal shoe charm decorating the front of a dog harness.

Finally, for all you fellow scrapbookers out there, don't forget they make a great dimensional embellishment for all your paper crafts. Just punch a hole in your paper, photo or ribbon and slide in your shoe charm. If you have a Crop-a-dile you can punch holes in anything. (That is how I made the holes in the brim of my baseball cap before adding a shoe charm). For example, get a small steel bucket for storing your garden tools or craft supplies. Decorate it with paper, ribbon and flowers but then add some butterfly or dragonfly shoe charms by punching holes along the top of the bucket with your Crop-a-dile. Shoe charms make a really fun 3-D accent for so many projects. Below you can see a layout with a brown paw print shoe charm adorning the striped ribbon.

So think outside the box, and away from your shoes, for even more ways to enjoy shoe charms. They are inexpensive, fun and a simple way to add a little extra decoration to your life.
