This upgrade from the VM9022 now includes HD radio and built in GPS. The brake override procedure is the same for this unit as it is for the older model. Check YouTube for the videos on how to do it. The built in Bluetooth works good although my Nextel phone isn't able to send phone book entries to the head unit. I added an Audiovox backup camera which works good. The screen is nice and clear but not bright enough during the day, and too bright at night. There is an "Auto Dimming" but it doesn't dim the very bright blue buttons on the side of the unit. Don't get suckered by some sellers here who make it seem like you're getting free add-ons. The HD radio box, iPod cable and Media Port box are INCLUDED with the VM9022HDN (and the VM9022).
I have an 8 gig USB drive in the Media Port in the glove compartment. It takes a few seconds to read and load. I only have audio on it and only have pictures on the SD card but, contrary to what Jensen says, they both play video files. I don't have an iPod so I can't comment on that. I might get the Sony Walkman with Bluetooth. if the VM syncs with that, I won't need wires for music from the Walkman to the head unit.
The GPS is okay. Not Garmin quality when it comes to advanced warnings for upcoming turns but it does do very well with getting sat. signals. I had the unit hooked up to a power converter in my garage to test it and make sure everything (Bluetooth, camera, SD, USB, DVD and radio) worked. The GPS was picking up anywhere from 4 to 7 sats. IN MY GARAGE!!! Even my Garmin Nuvi 760 doesn't get a signal inside....even with an external antenna. But still, I'd suggest Garmin for your GPS needs. Their interface is easier to use.
This unit is fully loaded and at under $600 (eBay won't let me say where I got it from), even though it's a Jensen (I would have preferred the Kenwood DNX8120), it's a great deal.
