Filtration specialsI have sold over 200 canister filters in my two ebay stores, Aquatic Specialties and Tropical fish Encounters. Both the Jebo models the Lifetech 838 and the Odyssea Cs4 are economical filters for the new to medium aquarist. They are both multistage canisters(they have filter baskets with different media) and come free with filter media-carbon, bio mech rings, and fine to coarse filter pads. This is a great feature as most canisters you have to spend up to 40.00 for filter media after buying the canister. They both come with spray bar units for dispersing water flow, and both have adjustable valves. If the media is packed right they both work excellent to filter the water in aquariums up to 200 gallons. Make sure and pack them well so no open spaces for water to flow through and they will work well. Up to this point I feel they are equal in there abilities. However in my opinion the Odyssea cs4(which is the remodeled 828 unit) is not as fool proof as the 838 lifetech model. The valves on the Cs4 model have a tendancy to break more often then the 838,(1 out of 10 people have to replace them after 1 to 6 months). I have not had that problem with the 838 model. Also on the Cs4 I believe the canister is not made with as thick of plastic as the 838, since I have had customers complain about breaks in the canister or small spider cracks. Fortunately both parts I have readily available. I believe the 838 is the better unit. For more info go to my store and I will update you on the units. Also check out our new guide on setup of the Odyssea and Lifetech canister filters.
Update: Jebo corp has just sent us the new O6 private label canister filter which we now have in stock. It is the Newport B 28 canister. A remodeled Lifetech 838 it will use the same parts, but it has better plastic, and more durable intake and outtake valves. Check our inventory. This new unit made for independent retailers in the Usa.
Also it recommended to use internal filter with any type canister filters, as the canister filter are difficult to clean and clog readily, and they do not aireate enough for larger aquariums. Internal filters use a magnet drive submersible powerhead, and have attachable filter baskets and air injectors to increase air in the water. They prefilter the water by remove the food debris and larger particles which tend to clog the canister filters, so you only have to clean the canisters about every six months, the internal filters you clean as they get dirty.Internal filters Most of our canister filters we sell with the internal filters included.
