Buyer Caveat Emptor when bidding on so called Japanese Bayonets sold from sellers based in China as most of these tend to be cheap chinese reproduction knock-offs that are left outdoors in cow manure to artificially age them so they can successfully dupe the buyer. Take a close looks at the markings & details & you will notice several mistakes in production of these fakes. Always ask the seller for clear photographs of the markings to ascertain their authenticity and familiarize yourself by doing research. You should also examine the grip screws or rivets. Also note that the Chinese did use & rework Japanese bayonets such as the type 19 as well as manufacture their own bayonets based on the Japanese Type 30, however, the majority of the so called Japanese bayonets sold out of China by sellers based there are not authentic bayonets of neither japanese or chinese origin and are simply faked knockoffs produced out of crude reproductions and due to this you should do some research prior to bidding. A great reference on Japanese bayonets used by the Chinese is Bayonets of Japan which you can acquire from BayonetsOfJapan.com. Another thing to consider when bidding is the shipping costs. These chinese sellers sell at severely inflated shipping charges & several of these sellers have multiple accounts. So, before bidding & being suckered, do your homework.
Inflated & excessive shipping charges is a clear give away that you're being scammed. I've had a bayonet shipped to me from Russia for less than $20 so no way it would cost $80 & up that these chinese claim.
