When I was younger, things to organize your life were not even available.  We just had plain old closets.  We had to add our own makeshift shelving, and usually things were just piled in.  I remember once going into a closet and digging to the bottom to find things I had bought a couple of years ago, forgotten, and they were still with tags on them, and shoes in the original box.

For me, totally normal way to live.  But as I got older, I was stressed out trying to find what was ready to put on and go out the door, and they did not have anything easier than an iron to do it all.  So, I was not one to think that I should "get on the band wagon" and buy things to organize my closet or life, I was just used to my "20 minute search for it routine" and I had to always allow more than an extra hour to every event to find my outfit, know I would have to iron it, and then prepare to get showered, dressed, make up and ready to go.

So then I started watching HSN with Joy Mangano, the leader in closet organizing, and I was very skepticle, thought it was really a hype to spend $1.00 a hanger or so, plus shipping to organzie my own closet.  My thought was to save that money, and spend more money on more clothing.  I was sted fast in this thought even though I watched the show over and over.  So, one day, I mentioned at work that I had seen this, and a co-worker had already done a closet makeover, and was raving about how it literally changed her entire life.  Because she didn't need that extra hour any longer to prepare her daily outfits and iron them.  She had it down to a system, with the steamer on a shelf right in her closet.

So I got to thinking and tried the smallest batch of hangers in pink ribbon, my favorite color, I got 36.  And low and behold, when I put my dresses and clothing on them, they not only cut down the space they took, but they made all of my clothing hang at the exact same eye level, and look like a movie star wardrobe.  So of course I went to order more.  And more.  And more.  It was expensive and not done in one single time, it was several before I got it all right.  And it was expensive, so I did it when I could afford it.

I ended up changing from the pink color to all black and brass, and the color or colors is so personal.  But much of my clothing was black, and the shades of pink were different from each other being bought at different times, and so I didn't like that for me.  I chose the black for my home and then did over the store in black as well, they are just very dressy and executive.  We made over other closets in the family and they like the linens and pastels, not the black.  And one closet has a few colors in it, divided by one color for skirts, one for hanging pants, dresses, etc.  It looks so great.

I got the Joy comfort and joy sheet set, which is the softest fabric I have ever slept on, and worth every penny for that entire comforter set.  And I put sheets inside the drawers and hung my belts on those other organizers, bought the pocket organizers for all of my loose things, hung my scarves, it was amazing.  What was more amazing was that after it was all done, and it took about a year, my life changed so drastically.

I looked and felt better, and realized that saving those 7 hours a week, was a life changing experience.  It took a while to even realize that I could either sleep later, or get up and do more, because every day, I could see what was clean, what I would wear, hang my laundered clothes back up where they belong and were visible, and that hour each day, added so much to my life.  It gave me freedom that I never had, and alleviated the daily stress I had every single dress to dress and find everything.  I know exactly where it all is, and it looks amazing.  It is so hard to know that one thing like that, can start a domino chain of events that effects you all day long.

It's so important to be in charge of your own things and life, and dressing for me is about a 5 minute deal now, if I know the night before that I want something, I just use the steamer, so much easier than an iron, and then hang it back up.

I recommend to everyone that they at least try a small batch of hangers and see if it does this for you.  Most women that love to shop, and dress in style, would love to know this system and just be able to get what you want and go.  It's a freedom that makes me smile every day and it's been like this for 2 years now.  They are the number one item for this reason, and every woman, no matter what deserves to wake up, feel in charge, put together, looking great, and walking out that door like a diva - at every age we are.
