Have you ever stopped to think why you can be so much happier with one e-bay purchase than another, even though the item is similar?

After years of buying and selling on e-bay I decided why it is that I can make two similar e-bay purchases and strongly prefer one seller over the other.  The two items can be in just as nice condition and basically be the same. Yet, I will buy again from one seller or leave one seller better feedback .

Now that I sell as much or more than I buy, I decided I should figure out why this is.

There are always the usual tips such as honesty and good descriptions , good communication, and quick shipping with fair shipping prices. We have the stars in feedback for those things.

That's not all though....as a seller I have to think like the buyer I am selling to.

It's the little touches :

  • Send a little e-note to thank them for their purchase.

  • Include a  note or copy of the auction so the buyer  knows who to leave feedback to. They might have purchased a lot of similar goods from different buyers and this also lets them know who's store they might like to visit again.

  • Safe packaging...that's a given.   But, appearance matters too.  Neat packaging is a must....... I actually purchased an order of makeup samples recently that were thrown together in the mailer bag. Many were smeared and bent. There was no rhyme or reason , just a jumble of mixed samples.  Yes, most were usable, but is that the way a buyer wants to recieve their goods? A little effort goes a LONG way!

  • A little "extra" added to the box is always a welcome surprise. I know that I have customers who buy my cosmetic samples so that they can add a couple to their own customer's box.

  • Don't assume it is alright to change the appearance of item you are selling t make it fit to your box or envelope. I have been sadly disappointed when a full sheet of samples were shown in the picture but were torn or bent to fit the envelope. The item should arrive in the same shape and condition shown in the photo.

  • A little tissue paper can even make a difference! An item wrapped in a little tissue paper sure makes a much better impression than old newspaper, for instance....or worse - nothing at all!

I am sure you can think of lots more tips but those are some of mine.

The easiest way to make your buyer happy is to just imagine how you would feel recieving the item you just packaged...and package accordingly!
