Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation is, in my opinion, the best (and safest) way to ship.
But are you aware that many eBayers are still taking advantage of the substantially lower rates offered by the USPS for Media Mail?
From the Postal Service website at
http://www.usps.com/send/waystosendmail/senditwithintheus/mediamail.htm
"Media Mail® service is a cost efficient way to mail books, sound recordings, recorded video tapes, printed music, and recorded computer-readable media (such as CDs, DVDs, and diskettes). Media Mail can not contain advertising except for incidental announcements of books. The maximum weight for Media Mail is 70 lbs."
I receive dozens of packages each month. Without fail, the ones marked Media Mail always take weeks to arrive. I had also been noticing that many of the packages had a stamp that read "Opened for Postal inspection at Bulk Mail facility". I approached the clerk at the Post Office about this and I was directed to the PostMaster who informed me that much of the mail marked Media Mail is opened regularly to verify the contents. The mail is then forwarded to the addressee, and a cautionary letter is sent to the sender. With as few as two infractions of the Media Mail regulations by any sender, a substantial fine is levied and, in some cases, the ability to print shipping lables online is suspended.
Please reconsider shipping merchandise, which does not qualify, by Media Mail. You are doing your buyer a disservice by extending the delivery time on their purchases. You are also opening yourself for possible fines and imprisonment. Folks, this is a Government agency. They do not take falsifying documents and "cheating" the US Government lightly.
All mail is subject to inspection with cause. The increased volume of Media Mail packages caused by todays influx of eBay sellers has created a situation that the US Postal Service is dealing with.
Please research shipping costs, charge accordingly and ship properly.
