We get many questions from buyers who are unaware of their car's body style.
We hope that this will clarify the questions you may have about body styles.
A vehicle with a post at the door opening is called a sedan, sometimes
called a post car. Neither the hardtop nor the fastback has a post at the
door opening.
The hardtop, also referred to as a formal roof, has a smaller, more upright
back glass.
The fastback has a long sloping back glass and a longer roof line, with a
shorter deck lid, or trunk lid.
Ford vehicles that are hardtops will have a 65 body code on the date plate.
Ford vehicles that are fastbacks will have a 63 body code on the data plate.
