Is it Swiss Army, Victorinox or Wagner?

Ok folks, I decided that I am getting very frustrated in looking for Swiss Army stuff here on Ebay. I use to work in a luggage store for about 7 years and sold the 'legit' Swiss Army products. Out of all the people in my store, district and region, I sold the most of this brand (in part because I love it and own alot of it myself).

With that being said-when you are searching and listing "swiss army" products on ebay I ask that you are looking for the right thing.

Swiss Army is a name that has been in legal dispute between Victorinox (or sometimes known as the TRG group) and Wagner. The legal decision was that they both got to use the "swiss army' name- HOWEVER, Wagner did not get the use of the "swiss army shield" logo. Wagner has a square red box with a white cross. Victorinox has a red shield with a white cross as their logo.

The reason I am putting this out there is consistently people get these mixed up, and its not fair to the consumer that the logos are so close together. Things to look out for between the two groups (besides the logo):

Victorinox- on their luggage and backpacks offers a lifetime gurantee for wear and tear (and recently on certain lines, also offers against airline damage). The material they use is a military grade nylon and each series has specific colors. Zip pulls and wheels are also replaceable. To look at the pictures- look for high grade finishes, treaded wheels and zipper pulls with the shield logo on them.

Wagner- this is basically a company that does the low grade version of Victorinox. They have alot of the same designs but are not nearly as good in quality. The nylon they use is the same as to most jansport backpacks. Their warranty is only good for three years. Wheels and zipper pulls are not interchangable. Their logo is a red square.

Most importantly- if you are ever in doubt of an auction- ask the auctioneer for proof of the company, verify the product against the company's website. Or do not bid on it.

For auctioneers- Please be accurate about your listings. It is very aggravating.

Thank you!
