‘Good God y’all’ was my first thought when, ordering flowers online, I stumbled on the Vera Wang Flower collection (FTD.com). Didn’t she just finish showing her mainline collections at Fashion Week and do extensive promotion to launch the Simply Vera collection for Kohl’s? The flowers are indeed elegant, lovely and surprisingly affordable. Here’s a sampling with photos from the site—some are available seasonally. Two dozen lavender (her favorite color and namesake for her Bridge line) roses w/a deluxe mini of Vera Wang Sheer Veil ($85); spray of exot ic jewel-toned Mokara orchids ($60); bouquet of pink Cymbidium orchids ($85). All include vase + an exclusive gift box designed by Vera.
Does this 58 year old mother of two teenage daughters ever sleep???? Feeling incredibly lazy, I decided to indulge in my favorite procrastination activity…making a list. Here’s a quick rundown of her licensing deals—keep in mind that these are in addition to her couture bridal gown business and two mainline collections. Numerous fragrances for men and women (Unilever); full line of tableware and accoutrements (Wedgewood), shoes and small accessories (Stuart Weitzman), and mattresses (Serta). Given the early sell-out of the Simply Vera line for Kohl’s (despite tepid reviews from the fashion press), you can bet she’s gearing up to bring her fans more.
My favorite new Vera find, though, has to be the $5500/night (that’s not a typo) at the Halekulani Resort in Waikiki. As you can imagine, this 2,135 sq. ft. suite (w/an additional 642 sq. ft. oceanside lanai) is decked to the nines with Vera products. Not to miss a single detail, it even includes a movie library inspired by ‘Vera’s favorites’. But of course! (-: (photos courtesy of Halekulani Resort)
Stay tuned for more forays into the hotel business—rumor has it she submitted a bid for a Singapore casino project to create a wedding-themed resort under her brand. Viva Vera!
