The Tokidoki Blog website below has been recommended in a previously posted guide.  Before buying any Tokidoki items (especially handbags) from eBay, visit this wonderful website to learn how to distinguish authentic bags from fake ones.  (Please copy and paste it since I am not allowed to put links in this guide.)

On the same website, the creator also has a page with the list of eBay sellers identified as selling counterfeit Tokidoki merchandise and another page with a list of sellers who sell who sell authentic items, though many sellers are not on either list yet.  You can post a request on the blog for someone to verify the authenticity of an eBay listing.  Please visit them by copying and pasting.

There are currently numerous fake Tokidoki items listed on eBay and more added everyday.  These can be reported to eBay as well as directly to the official Tokidoki website.  eBay is supposed to remove them, though I personally have not seen any counterfeit item removed;  therefore, it is up to the buyer to verify authenticity.  Many counterfeit items are sold out of Thailand and Hong Kong but, a U.S. seller does not necessarily guarantee authenticity since he could have purchased the counterfeit items either knowingly or unknowingly.  In fact, the majority of counterfeit items are sold within the U.S.

Below are a few important points of information relating specifically to items made by LeSportsac for Tokidoki.

  • LeSportsac for Tokidoki does NOT make any cosmetic bags

  • There are specific bag styles and fabric patterns for Tokidoki and other styles and fabric patterns for regular LeSportsac bags.  Visit the Tokidoki Blog and LeSportsac.com to view the bags.  LeSportsac no longer makes Tokidoki bags but you can see the styles of the regular bags.  An alleged Tokidoki bag made in any style of a regular LeSportsac bag is a FAKE.

  • A high price on a supposed Tokidoki bag does not necessarily guarantee authenticity.  The sellers of fake items are getting smarter and putting higher prices on their items to trick the buyers.  The counterfeit bags they are selling for $60 to $100 were purchased for between $5 and $10.
