Watching the prices of various items on ebay from long ago until recently has us thinking that Ebay has become a "buyer's market" for many of the items listed for sale. We've noticed things that use to sell for much more now going fairly cheaply as more and more people put their stuff up for sale.
Things that use to be somewhat collectible and relatively pricey are now available in an abundance that makes them sell for much less. Other items that bring in a certain amount at retail stores are available at big discount here, naturally as there may be lack of overhead or some other direct sale operation giving close to wholesale prices. Some fairly limited and rare items still go for big bucks, like certain vintage car parts as the supply is just nearly non-existent.
What used to work in favor of the Ebay seller, the advantage of a marketplace available to millions and millions of potential customers is now working to the advantage of the buyer in many cases, as it is also a marketplace of millions of sellers of like or similar items. This is partly a result of the hundreds of people giving ebay seminars on how to sell and make a lot of money on ebay, which certainly begs the question of: why are they doing these seminars if they could otherwise be making tons of dollars on ebay? Who would sell a big money-making secret rather than just use it themselves, unless it really were not such a big money-making secret?
Well, regardless, we are enjoying the Ebay market and getting those vintage and near-vintage items that are relatively inexpensive. Now about the high shipping charges, that's a matter for a different discussion!
