Both create exquisite pieces that frequent the arms of fashionistas, celebrities (Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johannson) and mere mortals across the planet. Both have an uncanny ability to create ‘It Bags’ that are as fun to carry as they are unique. If you love one, expand your handbag and shoe universe and check out the other!
Here is some background info on Anya, as well as some photos of her latest store and in-store displays at Harrod’s and Harvey Nichols, all near London‘s Sloane Square.
Anya started her career at 19, designing unique photo bags as a fundraiser. She expanded by offering them through retail, using cheeky vintage photos ('Nude Hippies w/Union Jack' is my favorite) as well as adorable pet photos. You can occasionally submit photos for your own custom ‘Be A Bag’ at Nordstrom in the US--check with your local store for details.
In addition to designing for Barbie (as well as the current First Class amenity kit for British Airways), she’s branched out into creating shoes, small accessories, knitwear and killer suede boots that you’ll find on many a well-heeled Londoner. Visit one of her 30 stores (London, NY, LA, Japan & several locations in Asia) and you’ll be blown away by the craftsmanship and clever detailing. I particularly like the new ’pen holders’ inside the suede-lined bags--no more ugly stains. Anya is also carried through Harrod’s and Harvey Nichols and has just released a ‘bespoke’ line to celebrate 10 successful years. In true bespoke fashion, these pieces are impeccably designed and you can insert your own message inside. One husband is rumored to have written, ‘No more, this is the LAST one!’
