Recently I noticed a large amount of auctions for so-called "discount coupons" for use on the websites of reputable companies such as Dell Computers. This is not a scam. Sellers of these coupons are simply taking advantage of buyer ignorance, naivete and/or laziness.
There are many reputable sites - Dealcatcher.com, Couponmountain.com and 4computercoupons.com - to name a few, from which ordinary people can obtain coupons for discounts facilitated either by a link to the company website or by a code # that enables the buyer to receive the discount at checkout.
One Power Seller with 100% feedback is featuring 20% off Dell E520 desktop with purchase of $999 minimum. This is a classic Dell coupon featured on almost every computer coupon website. FYI, the code for this one is: F4QRV7N8TT?L3K - Please don't buy the discount on Ebay!
My advice: Before buying a coupon for an on-line retailer discount at auction, do some simple research to see if these coupons are generally available to the public from on-line coupon sites.
Btw, I wrote to the Power Seller appealing to his/her better instincts when it comes to taking advantage of people unaware that these coupons are generally available. No response. What does this tell you?
