Currently eBay has sites and is viewable in over 20 countries. International shipping requires a little more effort than sending a package across the United States. Many sellers restrict their sales to only those customers who are within their own country but you could be missing out on sales and opportunities if you take this approach. Some eBay shoppers outside of the US may be willing to pay higher prices for items they may not be able to get at home.
Shipping costs are typically much higher for international destinations and can vary greatly based on a number of factors.
Some other challenges you may face include language barriers, additional work involved in packing and shipping, longer transaction times and import/export rules. Even so, the additional work usually pays off in higher sales. One fellow eBay friend of mine who’s a Power Seller said she definitely think it's worth the trouble to accept international bidders because they drive your bids up!!
If you agree to do business with international customers, it’s a good idea to create a “For International Buyers” section in every listing which should include special information.
Go to International Trading Center on eBay at http://pages.ebay.com/internationaltrading/ for tips and tools for buying or selling outside of the US. Also visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection site.
