Stay informed. If you are shipping internationally, UPS* is not the only shipping company that is required by law to charge import brokerage fees for US Customs and US Homeland Security. Do your homework before you accuse one company. FedEx*, DHL*, and other shipping companies are all required by law to pay import charges on anything that is imported into the USA that is not covered by a NAFTA agreement. These charges are paid to US Customs, FDA, numerous agencies, on YOU, the customers behalf by the shipping company in question, then you are billed from the company itself. If a customer were to pay the charges directly to US Customs and various other authorities themselves, they would NOT get their shipments in a timely manner. This is what a Customs Broker does on your behalf. Before you berate and belittle a company for doing its job, make sure you educate yourself on what charges you will incur when you CHOOSE to import something into the USA! The customer MUST take on the responsibility of knowing what he is walking into when he chooses to ship internationally. Don't be ignorant.
